Cricket Opportunities for 11-15 year olds

See information below – Free opportunity. (More Information at the bottom of the page)

What is the Hub?
The Hub is a cricket training program supported by the MCC Foundation to give 11-15-year-olds in the state-education system increased training opportunities to fulfil their cricket and athletic potential.

A program of 10 sessions is provided through the winter, delivering comprehensive, development focused training with dedicated coaches and specialist input. This will enhance the technical skills of participants, as well as their tactical awareness and approach to being an athlete, providing them with the tools to drive their progression forward even further.

The Hub builds on the support and opportunities provided by clubs. Participants have the opportunity to explore their potential and prepare for higher levels of cricket, from increased performance at club cricket to pursuing opportunities in the Regional Performance Pathway (Eastern Knights) and representative cricket.

Who is the Hub for?
The Hub is open to anyone in state-education who has played cricket before – with a club, in school, through Wicketz or in any other form – but did not play in regional (Eastern Knights) or national teams in 2021.

The Hub consists of three groups: U13 boys, U15 boys and “transition to hard-ball” girls (more details below). As well as providing age and stage specific coaching, these groups look to create communities to have fun and grow together.

The Hub is free to attend and aims to be as accessible as possible. Should you have any concerns or foresee any barriers to attending, please get in contact via the details at the end of this document. We will do all we can to support participation and inclusion.

Boys, U13 & U15
For 11-15-year-olds who have some cricket experience and feel ready to push for their next level. Sessions will be based around the hard-ball game, building on core skills and developing effective and exciting cricketers.

Girls, Transition to Hard-Ball
For those who have played soft-ball cricket (including Dynamos) and feel ready to explore the hard-ball game. Sessions will build on core skills and develop all aspects of participants’ cricket whilst introducing hard-ball equipment and techniques. Although the Hub has an 11 – 15-year-old age guideline, any young women wanting to try hard-ball cricket are encouraged to sign-up.
